Chambre syndicale de la haute couture

I have now been in my new semester for two weeks, I been going to school 2 years (?), and I have only just now learned that only specific designers are considered "Couture".  You have to be an official member of the Chambre Syndicale De La Haute Couture, to truly be considered couture.  It is funny how this word Couture is obviously thrown around, when you really need to be inducted by this council that is hundreds of years old and has strick guidlines.

    YOuhave underlined a very important element. Haute COuture is very often misused as an expression. The houses which can legitimately use this title either as full members, correspondant member or guest members just represent the excellence of fashion. I am particularly interested in the guest memvers' list. As a fashion wrter , I have attended, for many seasons now all of their runway shows. Many among the younger names represent in my eeys the future opf haute couture and do invent and really create a lot in the field of fashion even if they are less famous than the bigger names. MY favorite is Julien Fournié. I recommend discovering this designer's collections, for instance on his website www.julienfournie.com

    Thank you anonymous, I am glad you found this interesting! I just looked up Julien, he has some pretty great stuff, definitely a couture look.
